21st December, 2009 TellyPrompter v1.7 released

A small but important update to TellyPrompter. The data format of the listings was modified, resulting in TellyPrompter showing an error message after downloading its programme listings.

This new version fixes the problem and is required in order for TellyPrompter to continue working.

Either update by choosing "Help / Check For Updates" in TellyPrompter's main window, or download the new version from TellyPrompter's page.

8th October, 2009 TellyPrompter v1.6 released

I can hardly believe it, but a year has passed since my previous TellyPrompter update. No need to wait any more though, as a new version is finally ready. This time it's a fairly small update, but one which contains features that quite a number of people have asked for.

TellyPrompter v1.6 now has support for high priority notifications (marked with a star graphic to draw them to your attention), is time-zone aware for those of you outside of GMT, and will refresh itself if you leave it running past midnight.

Have fun!

27th June, 2009 PocketZax released for Windows Mobile

After recently picking up a new Windows Mobile device, I was disappointed to find that there weren't any Z-Machine Interactive Fiction interpreters that worked well. There were a couple of existing options, but neither of them looked good or worked properly on my device, particularly when operating in landscape mode.

I therefore decided to set about creating an interpreter that would do everything I needed. And PocketZax is it. Now you can play all those classic adventure games, back to Infocom's greats such as Zork and Enchanter, right up to the huge selection of recent titles created using the Inform compiler.

PocketZax is released as freeware and is compatible with all devices running Windows Mobile 2003SE or later.

6th June, 2009 Tile Fall released for Windows Mobile

Over 12 years after the release of the original version, I have today released another new version of Tile Fall. This time it's a Windows Mobile version of the game, and it's released as freeware.

My main reason for writing this was actually to learn how to develop Windows Mobile software; Tile Fall seemed like a sensible starting point as I'm rather familiar with how it works!

Although there are of course already lots of similar games available for Windows Mobile, I hope you will give Tile Fall a try. I'm rather pleased with some of its features, including some pretty graphics, automatic screen orientation detection on supported devices (like the HTC Touch Diamond/Pro and Samsung Omnia), nice animations, etc. It's definitely my favourite version of the game so far. It should work on all devices running Windows Mobile 2003 SE or later, and supports resolutions from 240x320 up to 480x800 -- full details on the game page itself.

Give it a try and see what you think. Have fun!
